The fact is that Google made a mess of a lot of these free business listings when it changed Google Local Listings from Google Local & Google + to create Google My Business pages.

Focus on these few things;

  • You may have to cleanup your business listing, make sure that you only have one listing for your business and it’s the one Google thinks is your business.
  • Claim the right listing, you need to make sure you take full advantage of all of the fields and linking options available to you.
  • Make sure you have the right business category and subcategories chosen for your business.
  • Make note of the exact way your business (NAP) name, address and phone number appear.
    – Exact meaning is it Street or St.,
    – is it Service & Repairs or Service and Repairs.
    Whatever you show listed as the NAP on your Google My Business Page, you’ll want to use consistently on your own website and across all directories. More on directory listings in future articles….
  • Add regular posts or articles on your Business Google+ page, make sure they are unique and relevant to your business, your local area & or the business category your are listed in.

Sharing a Post / News Article

It’s Easy to share your news or specials to Facebook

The best way to have your news or specials on your website and in social media like Facebook, is to

  • First add the article to your website, using the article SEO optimised functions in admin, this way it is submitted to search engine crawlers
  • And then link it to your Facebook business page. that way when people want to read full article from Facebook it takes them to your website.

These are the easy steps to add an article to Facebook

  1. Find the article you want to share, copy the URL (full article web address, which may not be the page URL) To copy URL, highlight the URL, click ‘Crl C’ (or Apple ‘Command C’)article URL
  2. Go to Facebook.com and log in as the Administrator for your Business Facebook page.
  3. Go to your Facebook ‘Timeline’
  4. Paste the website article URL into ‘Status’ tab
  5. Facebook will automatically import the article, title, link, part of the content and a choice of images from that URL.
  6. Choose the desired image or images
  7. Edit the ‘Status’ text to be more meaningful, rather than just having the URL (content can be added above the URL)
  8. Click Publish
  9. Easy as…..

  10. Now you can log into your Facebook Personal or another Admin profile, search to find the business Facebook page and Share that Facebook post. Which will end up on your Timeline.
